Angela’s Update: Vol 1, Issue 57

I hope this finds you safe and well. As a reminder, all residents and visitors over the age of five are required to wear masks in all indoor public venues and businesses in Prince George’s County, even if they are fully vaccinated. The mask mandate remains in effect after the County Council passed a resolution extending the mandate last week.

Back to School in Prince George’s County

Over the past 18 months, we all have been challenged with facing difficult times and overcoming the toughest obstacles. This pandemic forced us to navigate unprecedented territory and impacted our community in ways we have never seen. School systems across the nation had to close, and our children had to adjust to an entirely new world of learning. For more than a year, our school system has worked tirelessly to continue to provide a quality education to every student virtually and in a hybrid model. Now, we are entering a new chapter in our journey as we welcomed our students back to the classroom last week for the 2021-2022 school year.

I want to take this opportunity to wish our students and teachers a successful academic year. I know that so many are excited to return to the classroom and to a sense of normalcy. Dr. Goldson and her staff have dedicated themselves to ensuring that everyone is welcomed back to a learning environment that is safe and productive for all students. I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of the entire Prince George’s County Public School system and I’m confident that our children are receiving an education that prepares them for the future.
