More Acts Performing at the 2021 BBQ!

The list of performers for the 7th Annual Alsobrooks Family BBQ just keeps getting better!

We’ve already announced our Mistress of Ceremonies, Prince George’s native and WHUR 96.3 radio host Autumn Joi Live, and our headline act, another Prince George’s native, The Voice contestant, Tamara Jade.

Today, we are pleased to share some of the other performers who will entertain the guests at the BBQ:

Poet Marissa Michel, the 2020 Prince George’s County Youth Poet Laureate, is a second generation American of Haitian and Puerto Rican heritage. An avid poet, digital artist, and musician, Marissa received multiple national gold medals for poetry in the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards, as well as an American Voice nomination and the 2020 Diaz-Mattison Poetry Prize. Marissa is currently a student at Sidwell Friends High School, where she serves as an Editor-in-Chief of Quarterly, an arts and writing magazine.

The Royal Priesthood Dancers and Drummers
are the African component of the Liturgical Dance Ministry at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church. The African Dancers minister at the Rites of Passage Crossover Ceremonies, African Liberation Sundays, at schools and for community outreach programs. In 2019, the Royal Priesthood Dancers joined forces with Ni Dembaya Drums to take the ministry of dance and drum to the next level.

Ayelen Dance & Folklore
is a cultural project focused on the dances inspired by customs of towns across Latin America.  The steps, choreographic figures, clothing and accessories are typical of traditional dance in Latin American musical performances. The dances are performed out by children, young people and adults from Colombia, Peru, Brazil, El Salvador and, of course, the United States.
